A woman from Mars

Zhanna Aguzarova, a Russian singer and the leader of a band Bravo, confessed in one of her first interviews that she was not actually from this planet. In fact where she was born is still a secret to public. It was supposed at first that she was born somewhere in the middle Asia. But then she changed it to Novossibirsk and then to Vladikavkaz*.
Ater some failed attempts to entry drama schools and singing competitions and after some of her first performances she and her band Bravo were taken to a jail for a year (indeed a jail for people with mental deseases). When they got their freedom they decided to move from underground to rock-n-roll and in 1985 they were on the top of popularity.
And after leaving her band to make her own carreer she moved to USA where she spent 6 years. Then she came back to Russia and decided to stay here and she still lives in Moscow.
But even being an underground or pop or rock-n-roll star Zhanna never changes her incredible style "a girl from Mars". Her dresses and makeup are some kind of combination of Vivienne Westwood and Annie Lennox.
Some days ago i saw a video clip of Bravo that was shot maybe 20 or even more years ago. Indeed clip seemed very awful but Zhanna`s style is awesome (the same you could see in the foto above with a black plait).
Sometimes it could seem that her style and her songs do not fit, but this fact makes every perfomance of Zhanna even more funny and special.
And maybe she is not very sweet but definitely she has her own style!

* Novossibirsk and Vladikavkaz are russian cities, Novossibirsk is situated in Siberia while Vladikavkaz on the Caucas mountains.

A teen businessman in USSR

In 1989 Andrei Lagunov had 200.000 dollars in his pocket after selling fertilizer to China. How could a 15 years old boy from USSR get this? So when his father came from his work with magazines about wholesales abroad Andrei wrote to almost every company asking to send him as a representative of a company some samples, which he successfully sold in further. By this he established good relationship with many foreign trade companies.
He became a great businessman and travelled a lot looking for a business that might be interesting to be opened, and suddenly his meeting with Marc satisfies his ambitions to work in fashion industry.
When 20 years old Russian businessman and 23 years old French designer decided to show their beachwear collection it led them that now they are sold beachwear, accessoires and lingeries in 32 countries including Scandinavian countries, Russia, Ukraine, Bulgaria and United Arab Emirates.
Researching their amazing marketing strategy in fashion I suddenly realized that one of my beachwear` s that I bought last summer has the label Marc and André.

Try "Summer Ice" by Max Chernitsov

Max Chernitsov is a successful designer and one of the most important designers for fashion industry in Russia for the last decade. His first collection in 2003 opened his style to public as a provocative, positive and full of sense and humour.
His constant participation in different exhibitions like CPD 2006 (Collection Premier Dusseldorf) in Germany and CPM 2005-2008 (Collection Premier Moscow) made the press from Financial Times, Herald tribune, to ID, W write some articles about him.
Max Chernitsov also took part in Milano Moda Donna and Lisboa Fashion Week.
“Summer Ice” is his new spring-summer 2009 collection where he tried to combine surrealistic motives, heat desert and shocking ice.
It is really good collection, Max, but could you change some of your models (Russia is full of beautiful girls).

“Goodbye, Kira Plastinina” - USA said.

A 16 years old fashion Russian designer Kira Plastinina had to close her stores in United States. Like many rich businessmen Sergei Plastinin tried to fulfill his daughter caprice to make her famous when she was 14 years old. Good startup with a hundred million million dollar and the 2 million promotion by Paris Hilton led Kira and her father Sergei to realize that USA market actually had not been waiting for fashion collection “a la pink Zara for 14 years old teen girls’. There are a lot of brands cheaper and with excellent quality. Moreover the present crisis made the sales worth so they had no chance to make their customer buy their goods.
But the good news for Kira Plastinina could be that the niche for young rather cheap fashion clothes in Russia is free. One of the factors that makes young girls to buy her clothes is that the design is rather simple and that the designer herself is at the same age as her customer.
After grasping her Russian customers she, perhaps, with a second attempt could launch her business abroad.
